Jyoti Kalash Yatra
The world is in a period of great transformation, a shift that is happening not just around us but deep within us as well. While science and technology allow us to travel to space, we are also experiencing a decline in human values. Families are breaking apart, our minds are restless, our thoughts are becoming dark, and many of us feel lost about our purpose in life.
In these dark times, a single lamp is not enough. To push back the shadows, we need countless lamps to burn together. These lamps represent awakened souls—people who are cultured, dedicated to service, committed to spiritual practice, engaged in self-study, and devoted to sacred actions (Yajna).
The penance, spiritual practice, and teachings of our revered sage, Gurudev Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya Ji, are a divine light. His literature and his words serve as guiding pillars for the future. What he said, wrote, and lived was not just for his time but is a vital need for our world today and for the generations to come.
His divine visions—”Transformation of the Era,” “Renaissance of Culture,” “Women’s Awakening,” and “Family Construction”—are more than just ideas. They are a well-planned revolution to build a better world.
Purpose of the Jyoti Kalash Yatra
1. Strengthening the Eternal Flame
The yatra aims to intensify the “eternal flame” of Gurudev’s ideas, which were ignited by his deep spiritual practice and inner strength. This journey is more than a symbol; it’s a promise from committed followers to become a living flame themselves. The goal is to make this light brighter and wider so its power can reach everyone and dispel darkness.
2. Spreading Divine Light to Every Home
This journey carries the divine light that arose from the penance and sacrifice of Gurudev and Mataji. This Eternal Flame is not an ordinary light; it is the divine force of a new era. The yatra’s purpose is to bring this sacred light to every home, mind, and institution. It’s an effort to awaken a spirit of selfless service, build strong values in every family, and make every institution a part of this era-building effort.
3. Reaching Unreached Hearts
Many people are still unfamiliar with Gurudev’s teachings and the call to action for our time. The Jyoti Kalash Yatra is a powerful way to bring the light of culture, spirituality, and service to them. It’s an initiative to awaken humanity, open hearts, and inspire a more disciplined and purposeful life. This journey is a humble invitation to those who may be held back by laziness, doubt, or lack of knowledge.
4. Preparing for the 2026 Centenary
The year 1926 was a divine beginning, marking the arrival of both Gurudev’s Eternal Flame and our revered Mataji. The year 2026 will be the 100-year anniversary of this event. The Jyoti Kalash Yatra is a spiritual preparation for this milestone, a chance to share their message with everyone, activate their plan for a new era, and celebrate the centenary as a “festival of ideas.”
Prior Preparation
As we prepare for a sacred and transformative event like the Jyoti Kalash Yatra, simple external arrangements are not enough. We must also prepare ourselves from within. This journey is a divine inspiration, and its success depends entirely on a seeker’s readiness—in their mind, body, and environment. Therefore, our preparation to welcome this sacred journey must be just as powerful and sincere as the journey itself.
1. Spiritual Practice: The Foundation of Inner Strength
To prepare for this sacred journey, every seeker should make their heart a temple and every day an offering. This requires a commitment to a daily spiritual routine:
- Personal chanting and rituals.
- Morning worship and collective evening prayers.
- Regular self-study.
This isn’t just about performing rituals; it’s about preparing our emotions and our souls to fully embrace this divine event.
2. Collective Spiritual Efforts: Awaken the Community
Yajna is a powerful tool for inviting divine consciousness. Its smoke purifies the environment, and its spiritual sentiment brings blessings into our lives. We should organize Deepa Yajna, Gayatri Yajna, and other sacred ceremonies in homes, neighborhoods, and community centers. These collective efforts purify the atmosphere and prepare people to welcome the Jyoti Kalash.
3. Public Awareness: Lighting the Lamp of Faith
Many people are still unaware of the divine mission of Gurudev and Mataji and the significance of the upcoming 2026 centenary. It’s our duty to share this message with them. We can do this by:
- Going door-to-door and delivering copies of Akhand Jyoti.
- Explaining the Rishi couple’s plan for a new era.
- Presenting this journey as a divine ritual.
This isn’t just promotion; it’s the act of sharing spiritual consciousness.
4. Decorating Our Homes and Centers: A Heartfelt Welcome
Just as we decorate our homes for a beloved guest, we must prepare for the arrival of the Rishi couple’s consciousness. We should create a sacred atmosphere in our homes and centers by:
- Lighting earthen lamps.
- Displaying the Gayatri Mantra and inspiring messages.
- Sharing pictures of our revered Gurudev.
This will ensure that every person who enters feels the powerful presence of a sacred space. Every home and center should feel like a temple.
Subtleization Sadhana and Five Veerabhadras — Divine guardians of the era's resolve
Through his practice of Subtleization Sadhana, our revered Gurudev created five divine tasks, which he called the Five Veerabhadras (or Ramdoots). He entrusted these five great responsibilities to a higher consciousness to guide humanity.
Here are the five tasks:
- Purification of the atmosphere: Using divine energy to cleanse the natural environment of its impurities.
- Refinement of the environment: Removing negativity from people’s minds and emotions to establish a state of peace and goodness.
- Construction of the New Era: Building a culture and society based on the ideals of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
- Neutralization of great destruction: Stopping the chaos, unrest, and despair that lead to destruction, ensuring that development is possible.
- Connecting with divine humans: This is the one task that we, as seekers, are meant to help with.
Connecting with divine humans — Our duty of the era
Of these five tasks, the first four are being managed by a higher consciousness. However, the fifth task—connecting with divine humans—is our duty as seekers.
We must find people who are selfless, idealistic, service-oriented, and truth-loving. Our role is to connect them with the spiritual consciousness of this new era and inspire them to become active participants in the great Yajna of building a better world. Every seeker should see themselves as a messenger and a lamp that awakens the divine in others.
What to do — Awaken and Connect
The Jyoti Kalash Yatra is not a simple journey; it’s a spiritual mission to awaken souls. The true success of this yatra depends on our ability to connect with every person we meet and to awaken every community center. This mission begins with a call to the soul.
The Need to Awaken — A Call to Invoke the Soul
- Awaken Sleeping Centers: We must bring new life to centers that were once active but have become quiet. Let’s make a promise to rekindle them with the light of Gurudev’s presence.
- Awaken Dormant Activities: If any of our campaigns or plans have stopped, we need to restart them. We must re-energize efforts like distributing literature, writing messages on walls, organizing Deepa Yajnas, and other creative projects.
- Awaken Sleeping Individuals: We must lovingly inspire those who once had a spirit of service and creation by reminding them, “Awake! The era is calling.” Helping them become active again is our service to the Guru.
Activating Our Era-Building Plans
Reactivating the various branches and campaigns of the Gayatri Pariwar with renewed purpose is a key duty of this era. This includes energizing efforts like:
- Gyan Ghat (Wisdom Center)
- Pragya Mandal (Consciousness Group)
- Mahila Mandal (Women’s Group)
- Yuva Mandal (Youth Group)
- Svadhyaya Mandal (Self-Study Group)
- Mobile Libraries and Wall Writing
- Sapta Krantis (The Seven Revolutions)
- Creative Movements
- Time and Monetary Donations
- Devasthapana Campaign (Temple Establishment)
- House-to-house Yajnas and Sacraments
We must ensure the public is actively involved in all these campaigns, with a special focus on getting family members to participate.
Strategy to connect close members of the Gayatri Pariwar
Awakening Members for a New Creation
To build a new era, we must awaken four types of members.
- Dedicated and vital members: These are the people who are fully committed to Gurudev’s mission. We should bring them to the forefront, not just to stay active themselves, but to inspire and awaken others.
- Active in programs, but inactive otherwise: These members need a clear message: “Every moment is a program.” As Gurudev taught, we shouldn’t wait for special events; we should live every day as a new era’s work.
- Previously awakened, currently inactive members: Some people once contributed but have since stepped away. We should lovingly invite them to return and engage in this work anew, leaving past experiences behind.
- Previously acquainted, but currently astray members: We must find and reconnect with those who were once connected to our mission through Yajnas, ceremonies, literature, or visits to Shantikunj.
How to connect with 'divine humans'?
Gurudev has said, “Deities do not reside in temples, but in hearts.”
We must find such good people within our community—those who:
- Have genuine goodness in their hearts.
- Can be inspired to create and serve.
- Live with ideals but are simply waiting for a divine direction.
Special action plan for the New Year
The New Year is more than just a change of date; it’s a chance for new energy, new feelings, and new promises. It’s an opportunity for a complete life transformation. On this day, we not only renew ourselves, but we also seek out people in society who want to make a difference for their country and community but haven’t found the right direction yet.
Process of connecting them
When we connect someone to the mission, we do so with the understanding that “Our only job is to connect; the Guru’s presence will do the rest.” This is more than simply getting someone to join an organization; it’s about connecting them with a consciousness that is transforming the era. The process for doing this is a simple, step-by-step approach.
Five steps of the New Year felicitation ceremony
This ceremony is a blend of intimacy and organization, designed to help members connect emotionally rather than just attend.
Introduction — Beginning the Bridge of Intimacy
Welcome all guests and newcomers with open hearts. Give everyone a chance to share their feelings and introduce themselves. As the saying goes, “Belonging begins with recognition.”
Love — Meals Together, Feelings Together
Food is a powerful tool for connection and communication. Organizing communal meals helps to break down barriers and build a sense of closeness. “Eat together, laugh together – this is the foundation of a strong organization.”
Progress — Shared Reports of Mandals and Centers
Share what work has been done and how it was accomplished. A brief report or presentation can inspire others and provide clear direction. “Sharing experiences strengthens the organization.”
Proposal — Presentation of Upcoming Plans
Present upcoming programs and campaigns. Ask for suggestions from everyone so that each person feels a sense of ownership. “When the plan belongs to everyone, the work also becomes everyone’s.”
Effort — Conceptualization of New Tasks
Conclude the ceremony with a firm promise. Create a list of new tasks and encourage everyone to reflect on, “What can I do?” Remember, “Effort without a promise is incomplete. A promise without effort is meaningless.”
Finding Five Types of Members on New Year's
On this special occasion, we should seek out influential individuals in society who can connect with the mission’s ideals. We are looking for these five types of people:
- Scholars: Teachers, writers, and speakers whose thoughts inspire others.
- The Wealthy: Generous individuals who can provide resources for social work.
- The Powerful: Those with influence in administration, politics, or other institutions.
- The Talented: People with special skills in art, science, sports, technology, or music.
- The Compassionate: Sensitive, service-minded individuals who will take ownership of the work.
Our goal is to light just one lamp within each of them—the lamp of Gurudev’s thought.
Campaign Process: Step-by-step connection plan
Finding
First, search your contact list—your phone, social media, neighborhood, or office—for noble people who have good intentions but lack direction. Remember, “They are not connected, they are discovered!”
Meeting
Meet with them personally or with a family-like warmth. Focus on building a sincere connection, not on a formal meeting. Create a reason to meet, such as sharing a meal, giving a gift, or having a discussion or spiritual gathering (Satsang). “Connect hearts first, then continue the conversation.”
Explaining the Mission
Once you have connected, gradually introduce them to Gurudev’s thoughts, the mission of the Gayatri Pariwar, and its creative projects. Use various resources like literature, videos, audio clips, or the magazine Yugvani.
Awakening the Sentiment
Help them feel that they can be a valuable part of society and that they are essential to the mission. Use a story, a personal experience, or music to awaken this feeling within them. “When feelings are awakened, a firm resolve will follow automatically.”
A two-step journey
Step 1: Visit Your Nearest Center
Connect them with local activities such as a Mandal (spiritual group), Yajna, Satsang (spiritual discourse), yoga class, or Bal Sanskar (children’s values) class.
Step 2: Stay at the Pilgrimage Site Shantikunj
If they feel a strong connection, invite them to visit Shantikunj. The spiritual atmosphere, the powerful vibrations of the Guru’s presence, and the selfless service of the members will inspire a lifelong dedication. As the saying goes, “Where faith is born, dedication flourishes.”

Devasthapana — Establishing Era Consciousness in Every Home
From the doorbell of every house to the bell of every prayer room, we must light the lamp of Gayatri consciousness. Gurudev envisioned an era built on faith in every mind and sacred ceremonies in every courtyard.
He has sown the seeds of this new era. Our duty is to find them and nurture them with our devotion, service, hard work, literature, and sacred actions (Yajna and sacraments).
This is the true purpose of the Jyoti Kalash Yatra: to light one lamp from another until the entire world is illuminated.
