Deep Yajna
Given the rapid expansion of the Yug Nirman Mission, Rev. Gurudev Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya introduced Deepa Yagyas as an effective way to impart the knowledge of Yagya, leaving a profound impact on the masses. This innovation is particularly relevant in today’s context, where many people lack the time, resources, faith, or ability to perform traditional kundiya Yagyas or havans.
In Deepa Yagyas, the deepak (lamps) serve as Yagya kundas, and the process of agnihotra is facilitated by the automatic ignition of incense sticks (agarbatti) made from havan samagri. These Yagyas bring sacred light to gatherings aimed at mass education, social awareness, and thought illumination, which have been conducted on a large scale since 1988.
Deepa Yagyas have also gained popularity across all sections of society for celebrating samskaras such as birthdays (janma diwasa) and wedding anniversaries (vivaha diwasa) in a holy atmosphere, at minimal cost and with simple arrangements. Despite their simplicity, the mantras and methods of Deepa Yagyas effectively convey the teachings and light of Yagya, touching people’s hearts and influencing their thoughts and emotions.
A mass movement was launched under the guidance of Param Pujya Gurudev Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya on the solid foundation of Gayatri and Yagya, the two pillars of divine Indian heritage. This movement has spread rapidly throughout the world. Keeping in view the need of the hour, various steps have been taken to simplify the ritualistic procedure of Yagya to make it universally appealing and acceptable. This has been achieved by adopting Deepa Yagyas.
Deepa Yagyas have made it possible to propagate Gayatri Sadhana and a lifestyle guided by the injunctions of Yagya to a large populace in a very short time. Its popularity spread quickly due to the use of lamps and fragrant sticks, which are universally used in worship and prayer by all religions. Therefore, followers of all faiths participate in Deepa Yagyas without hesitation.
Traditional Yagyas require much longer time and are often performed in batches, which can limit the full benefits of inspiration for participants. However, Deepa Yagyas are completed within a much shorter period of about one and a half hours, allowing all participants to collectively enjoy the delightful and enchanting view of the twinkling lamps and derive full inspiration from the ceremony.
There is a need to encourage devoted persons of all persuasions to participate in Deepa Yagyas. They should understand that to overcome the catastrophic dangers inherent in the present-day world and to effectively contribute towards ushering in a new golden era of peace, harmony, and understanding, humanity must undergo soul transformation and truly live a life of spiritual unity in diversity. By gradually adopting forms of prayer and worship with universal acceptance and common features, all faiths can recognize the far-reaching effects of mass worship.
Divine powers in the invisible realm are determined to restore harmony in human affairs and bring forth a bright future. The collective spiritual efforts through Deepa Yagyas make it possible to bond noble human aspirations with divine powers. Therefore, all enlightened human beings of all faiths must consciously contribute to this noble goal.
